BRAND MISSION & VISION
Who We Are
BEAG is a not-for-profit group that works with bakery equipment manufacturers to assess equipment to determine conformance with the latest American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard for the hygienic design of bakery equipment.
Our mission is to lead the baking industry's commitment to safe and sanitary hygienic equipment design. Our goal is a world where all baked goods are produced on hygienically designed equipment.
BEAG collaborates with senior-level bakers and equipment suppliers to foster peace of mind regarding safety and sanitation. We strive for the highest standards of excellence, addressing risk mitigation through comprehensive and respected assessment processes.
BEAG is committed to a world where the benefits of easy-to-clean, food-safe, and hygienically designed equipment are universally recognized and implemented, ensuring long-term positive impacts on businesses and public health.
How We Started
Baking Industry Sanitation Standards Committee — which was formed to develop and publish voluntary standards for the design and construction of bakery equipment. Created by professional bakers for professional bakers, BEAG’s origins reach all the way
back to 1949.
In 1966, a program was developed to help manufacturers conform to the standards and receive recognition when they do. In the decades since, the assessment process has been refined to work seamlessly with manufacturers, and reflective of the evolving challenges
that arise in the baking industry. That focus, purpose, and drive continues today.
Our Purpose Today
Is to lead the baking industry's commitment to safe and sanitary hygienic equipment design.
Our Purpose Tomorrow
Is a world where all baked goods are produced on hygienically designed equipment.
The Standards
We Apply
BEAG was formed based on the American National Standards for Baking Equipment, which is comprised of two specific standards, the ANSI Z50.1 standard of equipment safety and ANSI Z50.2 standard for baking sanitation. The American Society of Baking's Z50 Committee provides the technical expertise in the development and updating of the standards. BEAG certifies equipment that conforms to the established standards.
BEAG's Commitment to Safety Standards Adherence:
- Guided by Industry Standards: Leading the way with industry-recognized hygienic equipment design standards.
- Foster Education: Promoting essential knowledge and trining to enhance understanding of hygienic equipment design.
- Sustainability: Supporting long-term business health through hygienic design concepts.
